network connectivity

Terms from Human Computer Interaction the Basics

The glossary is in progress.

Many applications assume continuous network connectivity, but this may not always be the case outside major urban areas or affluent neighbourhoods. There may be 'not spots' with minimal mobile signal, places with weak signal, or places with short glitches in connectivity. It is senisble to make use of continuous connectivity, for example to access cloud servces or to enable collabortion, however applications also need to be designed to allow for variations in connectivity, for example including synchronisation mechanisms.
